Parents are encouraged to take an active role in the preparation of their child for all of the sacraments.

Baptism

Please contact the rectory at 860.623.2524 to arrange for Baptism for your child if necessary.

Proof of baptism is required before a student may receive the Eucharist for the first time. Contact the Parish Center office at 860.627.9469 if you have questions or concerns concerning your child’s Baptismal status. If your child has been baptized at some parish other than St. Mary / St. Robert Bellarmine, please bring in your child’s baptismal certificate so that we can make a copy.

First Communion & Reconciliation

Proof of Baptism is required before a student may receive the Eucharist for the first time. Please contact the rectory at 860.623.2524 to arrange for Baptism for your child if necessary. If your child has been baptized at another church or in another faith, please bring in your child’s baptismal certificate so that we can make a copy and determine whether Baptism is needed.

First Communion and Reconciliation students must attend classes and regular attendance at Mass is expected. Parents are encouraged to take an active role in the preparation of their child for the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist.

All communications about the first Communion program and schedule changes are through email, the parish bulletin, website and Facebook. If a child has missed too many classes, they will have to be tutored by the DRE before they can receive the sacraments. Such families will be notified.

First Confession (Reconciliation) will be held during class time in March/April along with a special prayer service in Grade 2.

The Sacrament of First Holy Communion Ceremony will be held in late April or early May for Grade 3.

Confirmation

1st Year Checklist 

  • CCD Classes
  • Make-Up Classes (no more than 2 absences. Any number of classes missed over the 2 absences must be made up before August 1 of that year
  • 5 Church Service Hours
  • 5 Faith Hours (Church Service Hours can count towards Faith Hours)
  • Lenten Mission – DATE TBD, Typically March/April – This can be completed in 1st Year or 2nd Year

Second Year Check List

  • 5 Church Service Hours
  • 10 Faith Hours (Church Service Hours can count towards Faith Hours, but not partials)
  • CCD Classes
  • Make-Up Classes (no more than 2 absences. Any number of classes missed over the 2 absences must be made up before Aug. 1 of that year
  • Saints Name Essay
  • Why I Want to be Confirmed Essay
  • Lenten Mission – DATE TBD, Typically March/April – This can be completed in 1st Year or 2nd Year
  • Confirmation Test – DATE TBD, Typically April
  • First Student/Parent Meeting – DATE TBD, Typically May
  • All Test Retakes and Clarifications need to be completed by Aug. 1 
  • Summer Interview Assignment – May/June
  • Summer Interview With Priest – June-August
  • Choose a Sponsor by end of March/Sponsor Information Sheet and Sponsor Certificate

Early Fall of Confirmation Year

  • Confirmation Retreat, Adoration, and Confession – DATE TBD
  • 1-2 More Parent Meetings – DATE TBD
  • Fall Confirmation will be Sept-Nov. (We typically have found out from the Archdiocese in mid-August.)
